Germany and Rwanda Diplomatic Relations
Historical Overview
In 1963, Rwanda and the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG) established diplomatic relations, leading to the establishment of a German embassy in Kigali. After the end of the Hallstein Doctrine, Rwanda also established diplomatic relations with the German Democratic Republic (GDR).

The Embassy of the Republic of Rwanda in Berlin serves as Rwanda's diplomatic mission to Germany. It also represents Rwanda in Romania, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Ukraine.

Vaccine Production
German pharmaceutical giant BioNTech has commenced construction of a COVID-19 vaccine manufacturing facility in Rwanda. Upon completion, it will become the first mRNA vaccine plant in Africa.
